Working Without a Mouse
If you do not have a mouse or other pointing device installed, or prefer to
use the keyboard, you can use the following keys and key combinations to move the
cursor within a field and to highlight text.
Moving the Cursor:
- The LEFT ARROW and RIGHT ARROW keys move the cursor from character to
character.
- The CONTROL-LEFT ARROW and CONTROL-RIGHT ARROW key combinations move the
cursor from word to word within a field (the cursor jumps to the first character in
each word).
- The HOME key moves the cursor to the first character in a field. In multi-line
fields, HOME moves the cursor to the first character in the current line.
- The END key moves the cursor to the last character in a field. In multi-line
fields, END moves the cursor to the last character in the current line.
Highlighting Text:
To highlight a range of characters:
- Position the cursor to the left of the first character you want to highlight.
- Hold down the SHIFT key and then press the RIGHT ARROW key to move the
highlighting to the last character you want to select.
To highlight a range of words:
- Position the cursor to the left of the first word you want to highlight.
- Hold down the CONTROL and SHIFT keys and then press the RIGHT ARROW key to
move the cursor to the last word you want to highlight. Note that the highlighting
begins at the cursor position and continues word by word (including the space
after the word) each time you press the arrow key.
