Using Windows 32-Bit Access

If you experience unexplainable errors while running Contract Collector, such as general protection faults or corrupted data files, the problem may lie in Windows' 32-bit disk access feature. This feature can cause problems with network systems and other software that in turn can affect Contract Collector,

by allowing users with the required type of disk controller to bypass DOS and the system BIOS to directly access their hard drive,

Such errors may occur if the USE 32-BIT DISK ACCESS checkbox, part of the Windows CONTROL PANEL, is enabled. To check, double click the Windows CONTROL PANEL icon (usually located in the MAIN PROGRAM GROUP in the Windows PROGRAM MANAGER). Then double click on the 386h-button. If an "X" appears in the USE 32-BIT DISK ACCESS checkbox (located at the bottom of the VIRTUAL MEMORY window), remove it by clicking on the checkbox.
