Using Scroll Bars
A vertical SCROLL BAR appears on the right side of PICK LISTS. Vertical SCROLL BARS consist of an UP ARROW, DOWN ARROW, THUMB, PAGE UP REGION and a PAGE DOWN REGION.
To scroll through the list, position the mouse pointer over the DOWN ARROW. Click once to scroll through the list one item at a time. Each time you
click the mouse button, the next item in the list appears at the bottom of the PICK LIST. Or you can click and hold the mouse button on the DOWN ARROW to scroll quickly until the end of the list is reached.
Note that scrolling through a pop-up list using the SCROLL BAR does not affect which item in the list is highlighted. Using the SCROLL BAR may even move the currently highlighted item out of view.
To scroll through the list one page at a time, click anywhere within the PAGE DOWN REGION. The UP ARROW and PAGE UP REGION scrolls backward through the listing.
The THUMB indicates your approximate relative position within the listing. For example, if a pop-up consists of five pages
of entries and the THUMB is approximately halfway between the UP and DOWN ARROW, the PICK LIST is currently displaying the middle or third page of the listing. If a PICK LIST consists of nine pages of entries and the THUMB is at the same middle position, it is approximately the fifth page of entries
that is displayed in the PICK LIST.
You can use the THUMB to quickly move forward and backward through a PICK LIST that has a large number of items. Move the mouse pointer over the THUMB, press and hold the mouse button, and then move your mouse up or down to go back and forth
rapidly through the listing.
Horizontal scroll bars are also used throughout Contract Collector. They
appear at the bottom of a pop-up and have LEFT and RIGHT arrows rather than UP and DOWN arrows, but otherwise function identically to vertical scroll bars.
The keyboard controls for PICK LISTS are as follows:
- Press DOWN ARROW or TAB to scroll forward through the pop-up one item at a
time.
- Use UP ARROW or SHIFT-TAB to scroll backward through the pop-up one item at a
time.
- PageDown displays the next page of entries. PageUp displays the previous page
of entries.
- END jumps to the last entry in the pop-up. HOME jumps to the first entry in
the pop-up.
Once the entry you want is highlighted, press ENTER or SPACE to select it. As
soon as you press ENTER or SPACE, the pop-up closes and the system
automatically inserts the selected data into the field.
If you know the first letter of the entry you want to select in a pop-up, type
the letter on the keyboard and the highlight will jump to the first entry in
the pop-up that begins with that letter. If there is more than one entry that
begins with the same letter, you can type the letter repeatedly to move from one
item to the next.
