Entering and Editing Data

If you are entering new data into Contract Collector, the usual procedure is to open the appropriate user window by making a selection from a menu and then typing data, starting with the window's KEY FIELD.

After typing data in the KEY FIELD, you press either TAB to move the highlight to the next field or to highlight the next control with the FOCUS RECTANGLE.

If you want to leave a field blank or skip over a control, press the TAB key. If an entry for a field is required, a message appears on your screen to inform you of that fact.

Once all your data for a record has been entered, issue the SAVE command. After a record has been saved, all the fields in the window are cleared of data and the cursor reappears in the KEY FIELD. You can then add additional new records, perform any of the other available operations, or EXIT the window.

If you want to edit existing data in Contract Collector, you normally open the appropriate window and find the record you want to edit by using the FIND, PREV or NEXT commands in the COMMAND MENU, or by pressing F2. You then make changes to the record where necessary and SAVE your work. You can then either locate another record for editing or close the window with the EXIT command.
