Controls

Throughout Contract Collector, a system of CONTROLS is used for quickly issuing commands, initiating processes, choosing options and displaying data. Simply position the arrow mouse pointer over the control and click.

Some controls are accessible from the keyboard by pressing TAB until a dotted line appears around the text of the control you want to use. This dotted line, shown below for each of the applicable controls, is called the FOCUS RECTANGLE. Press TAB until the control you want is contained within the FOCUS RECTANGLE. Then press ENTER to activate the control.

The following types of CONTROLS are used in Contract Collector:

Push-Buttons – A PUSH-BUTTON is a key word or words within a box. When you use the arrow pointer to click a PUSH-BUTTON, that command is carried out or a process is initiated.

Check Boxes – A CHECK BOX is used when a set of options is available in connection with a command or process. An X in a CHECK BOX indicates that it is "on," while nothing in the box indicates that it is "off." When there is more than one CHECK BOX present, it is possible to select any or all of them.

Radio Buttons – A RADIO BUTTON offers you a choice of options relating to a command, process or data entry. A BULLET within the RADIO BUTTON indicates that it is the option currently in effect. A blank RADIO BUTTON means the option is not in effect. Unlike CHECK BOXES, which you use to choose any or all of the available options, RADIO BUTTONS require you to choose one and only one of the available options.

Drop-down Lists
– Some fields require you to select one of a limited number of possible entries. To make it easy for you to specify one of the acceptable entries, a DROP-DOWN LIST is provided. Fields that include a DROP-DOWN LIST are indicated with an underlined arrow to the right of the field. When you click on the arrow, a scrollable list of entries appears below the field. When you select one of the choices, it is inserted into the field.
